Just another week in the exciting music business! A huge artist declares her big boss doesn't really despise her new album, the world's greatest recording artist gets a reduction in her jail time, and--admittedly somewhat out of the ordinary--a rock star and his wife have "trouble" with the hired help! Weren't there also some issues over there in Iraq or something? Oh, no, wait--Britney posted something new on her website!
Yes, those infamous tongues were again a-waggin' following a juicy rumor that Kelly Clarkson's big label boss conspicuously dissed her soon-to-come new album in front of his entire staff, apparently implying that the former American Idol chicksinger could use a little hit-help here and there. True or not? Sadly, the rumor appears to be so juicy, its very existence is news in and of itself. But Kelly, bless her heart, dismissed the street talk as "exaggerated," noting--perhaps puzzlingly--"This record is no different from my other records. Every record I've come out with, people have not liked." We here at Top Events are firm believers in the third time being the charm, and just know the upcoming opus will be a different story!
If there's one thing we've noticed over the years, good news and bad news often balance each other out in the long run. And so it is that after disturbing news of the legendary Bo Diddley, now 78, suffering a stroke and being placed in intensive care, we hear that rising new pop music sensation Paris Hilton--who's blonde and apparently quite popular--may only have to serve half of her surprising 45-day jail sentence! A blessing in so many ways, that came about "after jail officials gave her credit for good behavior," according to published reports. Optimists note that the reduction in slammer-time will allow the famous-ish singer that more time to prepare for her much-anticipated second album. Interestingly, pessimists note the same thing!
And those disillusioned with today's disturbing, disposable-pop-star climate will likely be heartened by word about two rockers with integrity--and when it comes to those who rock with integrity, who ranks higher than U2's Bono and former Police superstar Sting? Surely if they have issues, they're issues that we, the common people, can relate to? Well, let's see: Apparently Bono's penthouse duplex in New York, purchased from Apple's also-famous Steve Jobs, is facing some ventilation issues: Smoke from neighbor's fireplaces keeps wafting into it! Additionally, former blond-reggae rocker Sting and wife Trudy Styler faced a nasty London tribunal judgment that the famous couple wrongfully terminated their longtime chef after discovering she was pregnant! Top Events' collective mind boggles over the legal issues that might have ensued had the Stings' chef actually been cooking over at Bono's swank-but-smoky penthouse! Luckily that didn't happen--but could it? Only time will tell!
